Characters: Reno, Tseng, (mentions Rufus)
Rating: PG-13 (Language)
Word Count: 100
Prompt: #113 - Bare (for [community profile] ff7_drabbles)

His palms were sweating. Reno couldn't remember the last time he'd been so apprehensive. He put his hands in his trouser pockets, and tried to wipe away the evidence.

"Reno," Tseng said. "Please correct your posture. The Vice President is here."

As he watched the door swing open, Reno blinked with disbelief at his sudden realization. He was afraid that Rufus wouldn't acknowledge him -- that he wouldn't remember the night before. The idea that he might be so easily forgotten weighed heavily on Reno's mind, but even heavier in his heart.

"So much for being a hard-ass," he thought.

Title: One Chance
Fandom: Final Fantasy 7
Characters: Reno, (mentions Elena)
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 100
Prompt: #66 - Over (for [community profile] ff7_drabbles)

One chance, that's all I've got: no do-overs. If I fail, and my target is still walking around, well, I might as well forget that raise I was hoping for. Hell, I might not even have a job to go back to. Maybe not even a life to keep living. I guess you could say that failure isn't really an option.

I wait for the signal, as the predetermined time draws near. Elena will be parting the curtains, and then I'll have a clear shot. I'll just pretend that I don't know him; then I'll be sure not to miss.

Title: Nostalgia
Fandom: Final Fantasy 7
Characters: Cloud, Vincent, Reno
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Prompt: Vincent (for [community profile] ff7_drabbles)

"Do you ever miss it, you know, working for Shinra?" Cloud asked, staring at his beer.

Vincent didn't reply immediately, surprised by the question. Instead, he looked directly across the room where Rude and Reno, off duty and still in uniform, were playing cards with two other patrons of the bar. Reno caught his gaze and smiled at him discreetly. It had been a genuine and respectful smile; one that had much more meaning to Vincent than he thought could easily be explained.

"Yes, sometimes," Vincent said. "But..."

"You can never go back," Cloud said, finishing Vincent's sentence. "I know."

A/N: Just because. ^_^

"She says, 'You're a Turk,' and I was like, 'Fuck yeah,' no use denying it, right? So, I decided to see if she knew anything about the club he went into. All I had to do was pretend I was into her and she told me everything."

"Fuck," Rude said. "You could have your pick of any woman on the planet, and you’re wasting your time thinking about what our boss is doing without you tonight. That ain’t right."

"C'mon, you know me though. I like Rufus."

"I don’t want to think about it," Rude said.

Title: Proposition
Fandom: Final Fantasy 7
Characters: Reno, Rude
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 100
Prompt: Opportunity (for [community profile] ff7_drabbles)

"You in or out?"

As Reno considered the proposition, he reached inside his jacket pocket for a cigarette. The bodyguard reacted to Reno's suspicious movements, pulling a gun from his belt, but the bookie made him put the weapon away.

Dropping the cigarette, Reno reached inside his jacket with both hands, swiftly drawing out two pistols, which incited instant panic from the distracted men in front of him. The bodyguard fumbled awkwardly, as Reno opened up on both of them.

"Couldn't wait, I see," Rude said.

Reno smirked, hearing his partner approach. He wasn't known for passing up perfect opportunities.

Title: Retrospect
Fandom: Final Fantasy 7
Characters: Reno, Rude
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Prompt: Photograph (for [community profile] ffvii_100)

In retrospect, it probably wasn’t the best thing he could have said to the old man. After spending over three hours following their quarry around town, Reno had been eager to get the job over with. The guy hadn't looked like a threat, standing there, head bowed, eyes reverently staring at a time-worn photograph that had clearly seen better days.

“It is, in fact, my mother,” he said, glancing up from the photo, before letting it drift to the floor.

The sound of Rude's gun being cocked made Reno pause, but only for a moment.

"Do it," Reno said.
